Pi Day : activities and contest ideas

Activities : one activity idea per math level taught.

Trivia Game : 25 multiple choice items to test your knowledge of pi. Correct answers are given at the end as well as a score.

Search : search the digits for given sequences (birthdays etc.).

Necklace : make a pi necklace by assigning numbers to colors.

Fundraiser : have a pie eating contest and have students take pledges on how much they can eat.

Pi Trainer : lets you choose the number of digits and then type in to test yourself.

Records : world lists of the longest recitations (normal and while juggling). Challenge your kids to participate!

Article : news article about a man and his methods of memorization/recitation.

Clubs : 100 digit and 1000 digit "clubs" for students who has memorized that many. Your students could join if you have them recite for you

technique : a suggestion for memorizing digits.

Pi Calculations : newspaper article of largest calculation (1.24 trillion digits)

Digits : you choose the number of digits to show and how to break up the groupings. Good for memorization.

Frequencies : shows the frequency of digits within ranges of pi.

Languages : the numbers of pi in multiple languages (it says to "view the source code" to see the languages. To do this in Internet Explorer go to the VIEW menu and choose source. Then scroll down and until you see the lists of numbers.

The Pi Pages : history, story, literature, news, the site reads the digits of pi (in french) to you as you browse

Pi Song : you pick 10 notes to use (as digits 0-9) then a song is played with the first 10,000 digits of pi.

Rainbow Connection : song based on "rainbow connection" tune.
